Viewjeon Co., Ltd., a developer and manufacturer of high-efficiency heat-blocking smart windows (CEO Hee-Young Yoon), announced that it has secured KRW 5 billion in Series A funding. The company’s cumulative investment to date now totals approximately KRW 7 billion.
In this round, existing investor Scale-Up Partners participated as a follow-on investor. New investors included Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC), A-Stone Investment Association, and Industrial Bank of Korea. In addition, Muirwoods Ventures and D.CAMP are expected to join the round within the month, signaling strong momentum in Viewjeon’s growth trajectory.
In the earlier Pre-A round, investments were made by Daegyeong Regional University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, YoonMinChang Foundation, Korea Investment Accelerator, YNArcher, and Scale-Up Partners.
Founded in January 2022, Viewjeon is a Korea-based startup engaged in the manufacturing and sales of display products, with its flagship product being PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) smart window film featuring adjustable light transmittance. The company was selected for the C-LAB Outside program by Samsung Electronics, gaining recognition for its strong growth potential and accelerating its expansion into global markets.
CEO Hee-Young Yoon stated, “Startup investment sentiment has recently tightened, with funding volumes dropping by more than half compared to last year. Nevertheless, Viewjeon was able to secure KRW 7 billion in cumulative investment thanks to the business viability and versatility of our smart window technology, which delivers efficiency, cost-effectiveness, performance, and environmental value all at once.” He added, “As global demand for carbon neutrality continues to rise, we will focus on developing energy-saving materials and strive to become a leading regional company in the global market.”
In October, Viewjeon completed and began operations at its first PDLC manufacturing plant in Jeungpyeong, Chungcheongbuk-do, built on a 5,033㎡ site with a total floor area of 1,154㎡. The facility features fully automated PDLC film production processes, and the company is actively pursuing further investment to support its global scale-up strategy.
Established in January 2022, Viewjeon specializes in smart window solutions. The company set up its European branch in Luxembourg in 2023 and plans to officially supply PDLC film to a major global glass manufacturer in the second half of 2025. Standard PDLC film switches from opaque to transparent when electricity is applied, while reverse PDLC film switches from transparent to opaque upon electrical activation. By selectively reflecting ultraviolet and infrared rays, these innovative products significantly enhance building energy efficiency.
